An experienced design team has been appointed to work on the Bearsden Community Hub project.
The network of community hubs, including Bearsden, is a key aspect of the Council’s programme to continue to deliver accessible customer services locally throughout East Dunbartonshire. The first Hub facility was opened at the William Patrick Library building in Kirkintilloch in August 2012 and has been a huge success with increased visitor numbers since its introduction.
It is proposed to develop the Bearsden Hub at the Burgh Hall site while carrying out refurbishment of Brookwood Library to create a new enterprise centre and also redevelop Kilmardinny House.
Architects Anderson Bell Christie, quantity surveyor Doig & Smith, mechanical and electrical engineers Henderson Warnock along with civil engineer Curtins have all been appointed to work on the Hub and Brookwood Library projects. The experienced design team will be led by East Dunbartonshire Council and its development partner hub West Scotland.
The team's first task is to help develop and test the project design brief before producing options for the site which will then be taken out to the public at community consultation sessions.
To help with this process, a site investigation will take place around the Burgh Hall car park from Monday 2 June until Wednesday 4 June. This will result in a temporary closure of the car park to allow the engineering team to safely access and undertake survey work. The Site Investigation is the latest in a series of surveys which have been completed over the last few months to help inform the design process.
The Burgh Hall itself will remain open for business as usual during the survey works and all efforts are being taken to minimise disruption to hall users during the process.
