Loudoun Leisure Centre has been officially opened by Councillor Alan Brown, and young people from the school were eager to show off the new facilities to their invited guests.
Built by East Ayrshire Council and managed by East Ayrshire Leisure, the new leisure centre provides modern sporting facilities for both Loudoun Academy and the local community, including a FIFA 1 synthetic grass pitch, swimming pool and a new fitness suite suitable for all levels of fitness. There are also two multi-purpose halls which can be used for badminton, basketball, volleyball, gymnastics and dance.
Pupils from the school displayed their skills in a number of sports including, football, netball and swimming. They also showed Councillor Brown, and the invited guests, around the fitness suite and put on a high energy cheerleading display.
Councillor Brown, Spokesperson for Strategic Planning, Management and Resources and Equalities said: "As a former pupil of Loudoun Academy, I was delighted to return to the school to perform the official opening of Loudoun Leisure Centre and unveil the official plaque.
"Through the Council's Capital Programme, we have provided the Irvine Valley with a state of the art facility which will be well supported by the local community and extremely well used by the school. Within East Ayrshire our sporting facilities are second to none; the Ayrshire Athletics Arena is the very best facility in the West of Scotland. We are building a strong legacy for our athletes, and our young people, into the future with easy access to the very best sporting facilities and equipment available."
