Development Plans To Go Before Council

Dundee Council will next week decide whether to approve plans for a new housing development in Dundee.

The local authority has already approved planning permission for 30 flats to be built at Candle Lane, as well as funding of £2.8m, but it is understood Councillors are now being asked to support a National Housing Trust scheme for the properties.

The two-bedroom flats will be offered for rent to those on low- to moderate incomes, by developers Waterfront Investments Ltd. After a period of five to 10 years, the tenants will be provided the opportunity to buy their homes.

Councillor John Alexander, Dundee Council's Housing Convener, said: "At a time when our waterfront is undergoing a massive transformation, I think it's great to see new affordable housing in this part of the city.

"These properties will make the area even more vibrant and will provide an easier step onto the property ladder for first time buyers."
