A community-led action plan for the village of Fenwick, East Ayrshire, has been launched.
The village is just the latest community in the area to welcome the idea of a community-led action plan. Residents of Fenwick took part in a short-term local area planning programme, which assisted in helping to shape the future of the community.
The process started in June 2013 with the consultation process running for five months. During this time, local households and businesses were encouraged to share their opinions on the future of the village through a series of meetings, focus groups and events.
The subsequent responses then helped to shape the shared vision of Fenwick for the next five years.
The Fenwick Action Plan outlines a number of local priorities including:
• Finding a solution to parking issues in the village
• Village clean up
• Improved paths and countryside walks
• Relocate play park to King George V Park
• Better use of pavilion facility
• Promote local heritage
• Enhance entrances to the village
• A village square development.
A local steering group was established to lead the community through the planning process.
Isobel Gallacher, Steering Group Representative said: "The plan has made me more enthusiastic about living in Fenwick as I see how it could change over the coming years, all for the benefit of villagers.
"The plan should have a positive impact on the community, as the action plans go out during the week and the feedback comes in we will find out for sure, hopefully we will have volunteers coming forward wanting to get more involved in making the projects a reality."
