A fully-equipped sensory room is to be built at a special school in Redditch.
The project has been made possible after receiving a cash boost of £1,000 by Taylor Wimpey.
Pitcheroak School, which caters for pupils aged four to 18 with a range of learning needs, has been trying to raise £10,000 for the sensory room.
The contribution by Taylor Wimpey means the total has almost been met.
A sensory room is a purpose-built space which uses light, sound and other specialist equipment to create a calming environment and will be invaluable for the school.
Sheila Holden, headteacher at Pitcheroak School, explained: "A sensory room is an incredibly important facility for us, so we are thrilled to receive this donation from Taylor Wimpey.
"The new sensory room will include bubble tubes, interactive images and lighting, fibre optics and more, and will be a fantastic addition to the school. We hope to get the plans drawn up and the sensory room put together by autumn term this year."
Anne Wallace, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, added: "As a local housebuilder, we are committed to supporting the communities in which we build, so we were only too pleased to offer our support to Pitcheroak School by making a donation towards its new sensory room.
"I was pleased to visit the school recently to see first-hand the excellent work they do. I wish everyone at Pitcheroak School the very best for the creation of the new sensory room."
