An open day has been organised by Argyll and Bute Council to allow residents to hear more about two ambitious construction projects for the area.
The projects are due to be delivered at Campbeltown's Old Quay in the town over 2014/15.
The first project relates to the redevelopment and upgrade of Campbeltown Berthing Facility. A full business plan is still being developed but the proposals include dedicated onshore toilets and showers at the facility. To date, the team behind the scheme have completed additional site investigations, approval of town planning consent subject to conditions, Marine Scotland construction consent and fully developed design and outline specification.
The second project involves extensive remedial work around the fish berths, including construction of a new, stronger deck area, new bollards and protection, sheet piling, water hydrants and service ducts.
While the two initiatives are separate, they are being managed together in order to minimise disruption for people who use the Old Quay.
Argyll and Bute Council's Policy Lead for Development and Infrastructure, Councillor Ellen Morton, said: "These projects are part of our ongoing regeneration investment in Campbeltown and will see us delivering improved facilities which have the potential to help boost the town's economy, as well as bringing benefits to Argyll and Bute as a whole. I would encourage everyone with an interest in their community to come along to the town hall and find out more."
The open day and consultation will be held on Friday 28 March at Campbeltown Town Hall from 11am to 5pm.
