Blairs Windows has secured new public contract work, it has been announced.
The Greenock-based wooden frame window specialist has secured a refurbishment contract with Shettleston Housing Association, that is worth in excess of £500,000.
As a result of the contract, the firm will also employ an additional 10 staff at its Inverclyde base.
The project, which is due to commence later this month, will be undertaken over a 26-week period, and will see Blairs Windows manufacture and replace windows across a number of properties managed by the Housing Association.
Commenting on the contract, Allan French, Business Development Director at Blairs, said: "The SHA contract win is great news for the growth and development of Blairs. The public sector contract work will see us manufacture and install over seventy windows every week for twenty six weeks for the Association.
"Our highly-regarded 'double swing' timber frame has been selected for the housing stock refurbishment. It is fully certified by SHA and meets their exacting standards in relation to energy efficiency, security and H&S requirements.
"The public contract work sits well with our new build work and the specialist window design and build contracts that we undertake for the likes of Historic Scotland and English Heritage. We are already looking to further develop our public contract business, with discussions ongoing with a number of other public sector agencies across Scotland."
Alex Gray, Managing Director of Blairs, added: "An aspect of our strategy for growth is the development of our public sector contract work, and we are delighted to have secured this contract in Glasgow's East End."
