Barratt Homes has issued advice to motorists ahead of a lengthy road closure in Aberdeen.
From 16 March, the Mugiemoss Road in the city will close for four months while essential upgrade work is carried out to the existing service mains in the area. Additional work will also be undertaken ahead of the redevelopment of the former Davidson's Paper Mill.
A total of 288 new homes are planned for the area, of which 28 are affordable housing units.
Under the ambitious project, Barratt will upgrade the existing road while utilities companies will work to improve and install new services such as sewer, water, gas and electricity mains, as well as communications ducting.
As a result of the works, motorists have been warned that subsequent delays on surrounding roads, including Auchmill Road, the Parkway and Scotstown Road, as well as at the Haudagain roundabout, are likely.
Douglas McLeod, Regional Director (Scotland) for Barratt Homes, said: "Whilst the road is closed to ensure public safety and to minimise disruption, we would encourage commuters to look into alternative routes and timings, as well as public transport, in order to minimise disruption to their schedules.
"The works will provide a new junction for the future development of a new road linking Mugiemoss Road directly to Stoneywood Road, alleviating traffic to the west end of Mugiemoss Road.
"Whilst we apologise for any inconvenience caused, we are confident that this activity will bring favourable long-term benefits to the city of Aberdeen, including the allocation of much-needed affordable housing."
Barratt will be working on site six days a week from 7am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, plus from 7am to 4pm on Saturdays for the duration of the project.
Construction of the new homes will commence in around two months time.
