Residents at Woodgrove, a sheltered housing complex providing independent living in Dreghorn, are enjoying a £1.3 million make-over, including a new state-of-the-art TV in the lounge which has been gifted by staff at James Frew.
The company recently completed an extensive refurbishment of the 19 existing properties, as well as forming an adapted two bedroom home, on behalf of North Ayrshire Council.
The major improvement works including re-roofing and rewiring throughout the property, an upgraded heating system providing a more comfortable environment for residents, as well as new kitchens and wet-floor bathrooms within the 19 properties. The residents' lounges and common kitchen facilities also received a make-over including new furniture. Externally the building was enhanced with new rough casting, new lighting and car parking space and surrounding landscaping.
To celebrate the new look property, which was officially opened by Provost Joan Sturgeon, James Frew presented the residents with a new TV to be enjoyed in the lounge.
Gordon Orr, Commercial Manager, James Frew said: "The property is almost unrecognisable. It's like a newly built building and it's a much improved environment for residents and visitors.
"We had to undertake the work with the residents still in-situ and keep them safe as well as informed of the building work but they couldn't have been more thankful when they saw the end result.
"We were delighted to provide the finishing touch with the new TV which I'm sure will be greatly used."
