Six new apartments for social rent are on track as part of a multi-million pound development in Dalkeith.
Taylor Wimpey, Melville Housing and Midlothian Council have been working together to complete six new apartments as part of the development of 20 properties for social rent at Kippielaw in the town.
Taylor Wimpey handed over the properties to Melville Housing Association, Midlothian's largest registered social landlord.
The new properties will be used to supply housing to those currently on the council’s waiting list.
Tenants are already beginning to move in to this part of the completed development of six 2 bedroom apartments and two 3 bedroom townhouses.
The project is on schedule with the remaining 12 apartments due for completion by the end of March 2014.
Councillor Owen Thompson, Cabinet Member for Housing, said: "Midlothian Council is dedicated to providing low-cost affordable housing and this development is another example of our commitment to increasing the supply of affordable housing in our communities.
"And as one of Scotland's smallest local authorities, we were recently entered into a top housing award for our efforts in providing affordable housing with nearly 1,400 new affordable homes provided by the Council and our Housing Association partners over the last seven years and we also have more in the pipeline. I'm delighted to visit these new units and see for myself what a great asset they are to the local community."
