Scottish Water Announce Infrastructure Partners

Scottish Water has announced its water and waste water infrastructure alliance partners for the 2015-2021 investment period.

The first stage of involved appointing two partners – one for water and one for waste water – to deliver upgrades, maintenance and new infrastructure projects across the country.

Caledonia Water Alliance, a consortium of Morrison Utility Services and Aecom, has been named as the water infrastructure alliance partner and will deliver around £360m of investment over the six-year period.

For the waste water agreement, BBV Alliance, a partnership of Black and Veatch and Byzak (part of Amey), has been unveiled as the partner. It will deliver around £340m of investment over the period.

Both partners are now working alongside Scottish Water to procure 'Tier One' suppliers, or contractors who will work with the alliances, to help carry out the ambitious programmes.

Geoff Aitkenhead, Scottish Water's Director of Asset Management, said: "We had a large number of interested parties keen to work with Scottish Water on our next investment programme. Following a diligent and extensive procurement process the Board of Scottish Water has selected two alliance partners.

"This is the first stage of ensuring we have the right partners, with the right skills, to help us deliver the next stage of our continuing investment which is delivering real benefits to our customers while supporting the economy and jobs in Scotland."

He added: "Caledonia Water Alliance and BBV Alliance have committed to employing apprentices and graduates through the programme. Caledonia Alliance has committed to 20 modern apprentices and seven graduates, and BBV Alliance has committed to 30 modern apprentices and 18 graduates."

In addition to the Tier One procurement process, Scottish Water will also hold market days across Scotland to identify delivery partners to support the water and waste water alliances and our operations teams.

The rural framework market days will help identify contract partners who can be part of a capital maintenance programme, valued at around £500m over the six years.
