Following feedback from the public about the potential sites, the local authority has now agreed that the preferred site will be that of the current school plus additional land between Tweed Mill, Dalintart and Glencruitten.
Councillor Aileen Morton, Policy Lead for Education and Lifelong Learning, said: "Today has seen an exciting step forward for education in Oban, with overwhelming support for the preferred option coming across strongly during the consultation.

"It is rewarding, too, to see how involved school pupils were in the consultation process – they obviously have a keen interest in their education experience, and this in part is due to the hard work done by the head teacher and staff at the school to engage them in the process."
Five sites were shortlisted from 14 following a detailed options appraisal process. One location was identified as the preferred site and the council launched a public consultation process in November 2013.
Following the decision to proceed with the preferred site last week, the Council will now move forward with the new development by submitting a project request.
