£400k Sports Investment For Trinity High School

Plans have been submitted to construct a state-of-the-art, all-weather synthetic pitch at Trinity High School in Renfrewshire.

The £400,000 investment also includes plans to resurface the playground at the back of the school in addition to replacing the existing blaes pitch. The new sports pitch will replace the existing blaes pitch.

Councillor Jacqueline Henry, Convener of the Education Policy Board, said: "Trinity High School benefited from a major £5.6million refurbishment in 2006. Additional work worth over £500,000 was subsequently done to improve the windows, create a new toilet block for people with disabilities and upgrade the fire doors. Unfortunately, resources weren't available at the time to improve the sports facilities or the playground.

"Careful management of construction work and our capital budget means the end of this financial year will see over £500,000 being made available for other projects. With the Board's agreement, we intend to use the bulk of that cash to complete the outstanding work at Trinity High School.

"If approved the new sports pitch will mean that pupils will be able to do outdoor PE within the school grounds. Resurfacing the playground will improve the social area available to pupils and also reduce the amount of supervision that’s needed during break and lunchtime.

"These improvements will provide pupils with a much better environment and are a further example of our commitment to providing our young people with high-quality educational facilities."
