Last week, planning permission was approved for 16 homes to be built close to the famous Culloden Battlefield site.
Highland Councillors initially refused planning permission, but an appeal by developer Inverness Properties saw a government-appointed reporter grant permission with conditions. It is understood plans were approved subject to an agreement being reached on a financial contribution from the developer towards affordable housing and footpaths.

However, there are fears that it could set a precedent for further development in the area.
The National Trust for Scotland has previously voiced its opposition to the plans and now the HAS has released a statement citing concerns of light pollution. The Society is worried that the pollution will obscure views from their observatory at the battlefield. It has launched a petition to try and stop the development from going ahead.
