Forth Housing Association has said its Green Deal funding has been approved by the Energy Saving Trust. The funds will allow cavity wall insulation to be fitted to the external walls of flats at six developments in the area.
The developments are Baker St/Morris Terrace, Crosbies Court, all flats at 7 Cowane Street, Myles House/Irvine Place, Stirling and Bogend Rd/Milnepark Rd, Bannockburn, and Bruce View, Whins of Milton.
Installation of the insulation should reduce the heat loss in these properties by up to 35%, and reduce fuel bills as a result.
The work is scheduled for January/February 2014, and can be done externally.
While the work can be carried out externally, Forth HA has said access is required to each flat to carry out an energy assessment, as well as access to each flat on the day the work starts and after the work is completed, to check that heating flues and other ventilation to each flat is working correctly.
ESI (Scotland) will undertake the project and will carry out the assessments shortly.
