Following the announcement, Angus Council has said a display on the scheme is on display in Brechin Library, while community engagement events are planned for early 2014.
The Brechin Flood Prevention Scheme is designed to provide a one in 200-year level of protection to the residents along the bank of the River South Esk. As part of the scheme, walls and embankments will be constructed along the length of the river and existing drainage and culverts will also be upgraded. In addition, a number of environmental improvements are proposed as part of the works, including enhancements and road resurfacing at River Street.

Angus Council has said it is to submit an application to the Government for funding to cover the majority of the cost. If this is successful, work is expected to start on site in January 2015, with a target completion date of March 2016.
