Further Cash Boost For Fife Towns

Fife Council has launched a new fund to help businesses in the town centre.

The fund, which totals £150,000, will help fill vacant units, as well as encourage existing owners to improve their premises.

Spokesperson for Business, Enterprise, Economy and Planning, Councillor Lesley Laird, said the scheme was a further example of the council's ongoing commitment to supporting Fife's town centres and driving regeneration.

She added: "The council wants to do everything possible to help regenerate and revitalise town centres across the Kingdom.

"It's recognised that businesses have to adapt to survive and can only do this with advice and support as well as extra investment.

"The council has listened to the needs of the business community and has targeted this fund to help make a difference.

"We hope having expert help available as well as financial support to encourage enterprise and business development will be of great benefit to our town centres and that encouraging the uptake of empty units will benefit as many traders as possible.

"It's vital we all work together to transform our town centres and I hope this early Christmas offering to town centre businesses in Fife will give a boost into the new year too."

Administered by Business Gateway on behalf of Fife Council, the local authority has said the scheme will run until the end of March 2015.
