Bennetts Associates have published fresh plans for a refurbishment of Glasgow's Citizens Theatre, Urban Realm has reported.
The proposals include supplanting the drab 1970's frontage with the reinstatement of six statues depicting the four muses, William Shakespeare and Robert Burns, from the Victorian original.
While inside, a new sequence of foyer spaces would allow audiences to enter the preserved Victorian auditorium through its stone gable, while the upper galleries would connect a new studio theatre, rehearsal, learning and administration spaces.
Interior spaces will be reorganised and refurbished to improve actor's facilities, backstage areas and construction workshops with the public granted access to the historic under stage machinery – as well as scenery and wardrobe departments.
A start date for construction has been scheduled for early 2016.
