There were two small waste water treatment facilities in the area, but under the new scheme, they have been replaced by a single facility.
The project, which cost £1.3m and took around nine months to complete, and features a new treatment tank and outfall pipe to ensure the new system continues to meet the environmental standards required by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).

A new access road has also been completed as part of the works.
In order to lessen the risk of flooding, new treatment processes have been introduced at the site and additional capacity created in the network.
Bill Elliot, Scottish Water's Community Team Manager for Dumfries and Galloway, said: "Scottish Water is firmly committed to enhancing Scotland's natural environment and this essential work will ensure the Palnackie waste water system provides the best possible treatment before water is returned safely to the environment.
"We have worked closely with SEPA on the design of the new tanks and infrastructure so they blend in with the surrounding landscape. We have also consulted with the roads department at Dumfries and Galloway Council to plan and minimise traffic management during the construction works and we are grateful to customers in their area for their co-operation while this work was carried out."
