Views Sought On Kessington Travel Hub

East Dunbartonshire Council is encouraging residents to share their views on a proposed travel hub for Kessington.

It plans to create the hub at Kessington, Milngavie Road, Bearsden as part of the A81 Travel Corridor Project, and wants to hear ideas on how it should look and function.

A Travel Hub is a place that acts as an interchange for walking, cycling, and public transport. It can also be where people can meet up, get a bus, use local shops, park their bike, and socialise. For example, secure cycle parking will offer cyclists the opportunity to take a bus from this point and not worry about leaving their bike. Overall, it will be a place for people to use, designed with help from the community using the principles of 'place-making'.

Councillor Alan Moir, Convener of the Development & Regeneration Committee, said: "This is an innovative yet practical project which aims to help people make the most of their everyday journeys without the need for a car and to create a better place for people.

"We want to share our ideas with local people at this event but more importantly we want to hear about their experiences, their local knowledge and how they would like to see the Travel Hub look and operate in the future. We want their ideas and their vision."

The public design event will be held on Monday 18 November at Kessington Hall, Milngavie Road, Bearsden from 6-9pm.
