A land deal, which could see more than 100 homes delivered, is to be brought before Councillors in Dundee.
The Council's Housing Committee will be asked to support plans that will create a Sale Agreement on a stretch of land at Summerfield Avenue, Whitfield.
The report is due to go before Councillors today, and it says HOME Scotland has put forward proposals for them to work in partnership with a developer, Merchant Homes, to develop the 36 units of social rented housing and up to 90 units of housing for low cost home ownership.
The development could help stimulate the market in Whitfield for low cost home ownership to meet the needs of residents on lower incomes who are wanting to buy a home.
If Councillors agree to the plans, a Sale Agreement would be drawn up before a further report would be brought to the City Development Committee, seeking approval of the sale of the site. John Alexander, Convener of Dundee City Council's Housing Committee, said: "A successful negotiation to sell this land to HOME Scotland would be the key to unlocking more development in Whitfield.
"What we want is to make sure that residential sites in Whitfield are developed for a range of housing tenures to increase the population and ensure that there is demand for the new services and shops now being put in place.
"The Scottish Government announced the Help to Buy Scheme in September and it will provide financial support to make buying a home easier in developments such as the ones we hope to see in Whitfield Loan."
