A consultation programme with local residents and businesses on the proposed plans was held earlier this year and has helped to shape the final design.
The works will include:
- Refurbishing the exterior of buildings in Sauchie Main Street
- Upgrading paths
- Removing the raised beds
- Installing new energy efficient street lights
- Installing new traffic signals at the junction of Main Street and Greygoran.
Commenting on the improvement works, Council Leader Gary Womersley said: "I am delighted that work is getting underway to improve the environment of Sauchie Main Street for the people who live and work in this area.
"Sauchie will be the first recipient of investment under the Village and Small Town Centre Initiative.
"We have secured £648,000-worth of funding for these improvements which will make a real difference to this area."
The work will take place in phases over the next year.
