The Council's Planning Committee has approved proposals for around 800 new homes, a primary school, open space, play provision and associated roads, paths and other infrastructure on a 53-hectare site near Branshill Road.

The application was made by Allan Water Developments.
Enterprise and Environment Convener Councillor Donald Balsillie said: "I'm pleased that this significant development, which is likely to represent an investment exceeding £100 million, has reached this important stage. The discussions have led to an agreement that a new primary school will be incorporated into the site and that around 200 of the homes will be affordable housing."
More detailed plans are expected to go before the Council next year.
