South Ayrshire Council has said the Coylton War Memorial has been restored.

The completion comes ahead of a remembrance service which is due to take place at Coylton parish Church, before a wreath is laid at the three War Memorials at the church.

Following a car accident earlier this year, the Coylton War Memorial was damaged and in need of restoration. The memorial has now been repaired, and the council is working to finish pavement resurfacing and landscaping works to the grass areas.


Councillor John McDowall, Sustainability and Environment Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council, said: "I am delighted to announce that the restoration of Coylton War Memorial is nearing completion and it will be completed before Remembrance Sunday this November.

"This memorial commemorates people who lost their lives fighting for their country and we are very aware of how important it is to the people of Coylton. This is why restoring it properly was vital, we were not willing to rush the job, it had to be done in a sympathetic manner."
