Work is almost complete on six new business units at an industrial estate in Elgin, Moray Council has said.

Two of the units at Chanonry Road South are already under offer, with the local authority adding that there is "strong interest" in the others.

Similar smaller developments are also due to begin shortly at Forres, Lhanbryde and Keith as part of the council's ongoing investment in support of economic growth in the area.

In total, the four sites represent an investment of around £1.7m, including £315,000 of European funding.


Councillor John Cowe, Chairman of Moray Council's Economic Development and Infrastructure Services Committee, said: "Economic development is one of the council's top priorities and it is committed to providing much needed premises where new businesses can start up and where existing businesses can grow.

"We are demonstrating that commitment by investing more than £1million in these units at Chanonry and at Forres, Lhanbryde and Keith where there is strong demand for a range of units to suit businesses of various sizes."

The Chanonry units have been designed to provide flexible space from 70 sq m to 180 sq m, as well as outside storage space.

It is anticipated that once completed, the new Chanonry units will support 18 to 20 jobs while the units to be built at the other three sites will support a further 25 jobs.
