Transport Minister Keith Brown has said the roads in Scotland's north-west are "alive" with improvement activity.
Minister Brown added that the work which commenced over the past few days on another road improvement scheme on the A82 signifies the Government's commitment to improving transport connections across the country.
Construction of the new bypass at Crianlarich is due to open in the summer of 2014, and will support local economic activity in the north west region.
Mr Brown said: "I cannot emphasise enough the importance the Scottish Government places on ensuring that roads vital to the economic well-being of communities are not just maintained but enhanced.
"Crianlarich on the A82 is a case in point – the local community has endured substantial levels of traffic through the town for a number of years – particularly during the busy tourist season.
"The new £5 million bypass which will see a new two land carriageway built to the west of the town will take much of the through traffic away from Crianlarich.
"In addition the vast majority of the work will be off the existing A82, so minimal disruption is expected during construction. We expect the community to see and feel the benefits of the new bypass when it is finished in around a year's time."
Minister Brown added that almost £10m had been invested on the A82 at Pulpit Rock, £2m on design and survey work on the A82 between Tarbet and Inveranan and £1.8m invested on the A82 at Bridge of Orchy.
Further investments have also been made on the A83 by Transport Scotland.
