Plans for a new Madras College has taken a step further this week after planning permission in principle was submitted.

As a result, Fife Council is now asking residents to get involved with the process.

The proposals for the new facility are available online and those who are interested in the plans for the school are being encouraged to share their views.

Councillor Bryan Poole, Executive Spokesperson for Education, Children, Young People and Families, said: "We have now lodged an application for Planning Permission in Principle to build a new school on land at Pipeland. This is a key stage in the process and it's important that the people of St Andrews and the surrounding areas get involved and make their voices heard.


"The proposals for a new Madras College have already generated much debate but it's essential that everyone with an interest in the new school engages in this part of the discussion. Whatever your views your opinion counts and will be given consideration when the application comes before the planning committee."

The application can be viewed online on Fife Council's website, with hard copies available for consultation at Madras College, South Street; Madras College, Kilrymont; Local Office, St Andrews; Tayport Library; Newport Primary School; RAF Community Centre, Leuchars and Planning & Protective Services, Kingdom House, Glenrothes.
