Residents in Midlothian are being invited to view the area's newest extra care housing hub – before it opens its doors.

The individual flats and extensive outdoor space will be available for locals to preview at the Cowan Court facility in Penicuik on Thursday 12 September between 4pm and 7pm.

The specially designed housing unit will enable older people with varying physical and mental health needs, including dementia, to live at home independently for as long as possible.


Cowan Court is also a 'hub' for the whole community and includes a café, hairdresser, meetings rooms and a health room, which can also be used by a physiotherapist, chiropodist and an optician.

Councillor Catherine Johnstone, Cabinet Member for older people, said: "This is an exciting time for older people in Midlothian. The new Cowan Court is to replace Pentland House, which was much loved but in desperate need of upgrading.

"We look forward to welcoming the public to the new complex for a look around to see what a great facility it is and how it will benefit the whole community."
