East Dunbartonshire Council are giving locals living in the Hillhead area of Kirkintilloch the opportunity to see the developing designs for the new Community Centre.
The new building for Kirkintilloch, will be a community centre with flexible spaces designed around community priorities. It also also enable to local groups and organisations in Hillhead to grow while offering local people a social space to meet.
Users of the old community centre were central to developing the new design through an extensive consultation process. Questionnaires were issued to schools and churches as well as those already involved with the centre so that the new building incorporated the feedback of a wide mix of local residents.
The information session now being held on 12 August will provide an opportunity to see the developed plans.
Discussing the proposals, Council Leader Rhondda Geekie said: "Moving to the next stage brings us closer to delivering this facility to the community in line with our commitments.
"This session means that the community of Hillhead see the developing designs for these facilities in local information sessions letting them see their ideas and plans on paper."
It is hoped the construction stage of the project will begin in November with the project completed in June 2014.
The public event showcasing the designs, as well as the opportunity to ask questions will be held on 12 August at Hillhead Primary School between 3.30pm and 5pm. There will also be an evening session between 6pm and 7.30pm.
