New School To Open In Kilmarnock

A new state-of-the-art special school in Grassyards Road, Kilmarnock, is set to open next month.

East Ayrshire Council has said other pupils in the area return to school on Friday 16 August, with teachers returning on Thursday 15 August.

Willowbank, however, as is normal practice with a new school, will remain closed on Friday 16 and Monday 19 August, with pupils first starting school on Tuesday 20 August.

Willowbank will house pupils of the former Woodstock and Witchhill schools in a modern learning environment. The facility was constructed on the site of the former Park School and will provide education for up to 50 primary and secondary pupils with complex additional support needs.

The new building has ten classrooms, as well as special activity rooms for art, music and life skills, plus a therapy pool and medical suite.
