The document outlines where – and how – future developments in the region will take place for at least the next five to 10 years.
The eight week consultation began on Friday 31 May 2013 and is due to end on Friday 26 July.
Environment and Regeneration Convener, Councillor Michael McCormick, said: "It is essential that any decisions we make are informed and balanced and consider the views and concerns of our communities.

"Inverclyde is blessed with natural beauty and a wealth of cultural and natural heritage which need to be preserved whilst opportunities for future growth and development are maximised. But that process must be informed and that is why I would encourage anyone who has a view to take part in the consultation and make sure their views and opinions have been registered."
The Local Development Plan sits within a national, regional and local context – Scottish Government planning policy, the National Planning Framework, the Glasgow and the Clyde Valley Strategic Development Plan, and the Inverclyde Alliance Single Outcome Agreement, and complements and assists a wide range of plans and strategies.
