Sauchie Main Street Revamp Consultation To Close

A public consultation on the proposed redevelopment of Sauchie Main Street is to close on Monday 10 June.

The feedback received from the consultations will ultimately influence the proposals published by Clackmannanshire Council.

The plans are the first under the umbrella of the Village and Small Town Centre Initiative, which was agreed by the local authority in the 2013/14 budget earlier this year.

The consultation has included a drop-in day at Sauchie Hall and a drop-in evening at Sauchie Resource Centre as well as presentations to Sauchie community Council and Sauchie Community Group.

The proposals include:

  • Refurbishing the exterior of buildings in Sauchie Main Street

  • Upgrading paths

  • Removing the raised beds

  • Installing new energy efficient street lights

  • Installing new traffic signals of at junction of Main Street and Greygoran

Council Leader Gary Womersley said: "I'm delighted with the response to the consultation so far and with the feedback we've received. Overall our plans have been welcomed enthusiastically and I'm delighted that over 70 people came along to our drop-in events.

"Comments we've received include concerns about access for the disabled and parking, which we'll be taking on board.

"The aim of this project is to improve the environment of Sauchie Main Street for the people who live and work in this area.

"We have secured £648,000-worth of funding for these improvements and I would encourage everyone in Sauchie to take this opportunity to have their say before the consultation concludes."
