Proposals to approve £55k of funding towards construction of a new community hall at St Combs, Aberdeenshire, are to be considered by councillors.

St Combs Hall was destroyed in a fire in 2009. Ever since then, the community – under the St Combs Hall Association (SCHA) – have been working towards building a new fit-for-purpose facility.

The project is close to completion, with the SCHA having raised more than £740k from a variety of sources, including LEADER funding, the Aberdeenshire Towns and Villages award and the Green Energy Trust.


There is still a shortfall in the fund of £55,790, which needs to be met before work can begin on the restoration project.

In a report by Chief Executive Colin Mackenzie, it states: "The project is at a crucial stage and must be started immediately if it is to be delivered.

"This will allow the project to proceed immediately, allowing time limited LEADER funds to be drawn down."

Members of the Policy and Resources Committee will consider the proposals to fund the work next week.
