Major roadworks are to get underway on the A724 Glasgow Road in Blantyre this week.
The resurfacing will begin on Monday 3 June and last until Friday 7 June, and will take place between Parkburn Court and Whistelberry Road roundabout.
The 'Repave' process will be used and carried out by Colas Ltd.
Repave is a road recycling technique which reduces CO2 emissions, waste and energy consumption and is a quicker process than traditional resurfacing methods.
At least one lane of Glasgow Road will be open throughout the works and controlled by manned traffic lights, but the junction of Parkville Drive with Glasgow Road will need to be closed to allow the works to continue. A diversion route will be in place for motorists.
The works are part of the council's wider £126m Roads Investment Programme.
Councillor Chris Thompson, the Chair of the Council's Enterprise Resources Committee, explained: "Unfortunately these roadworks are of a nature which means they cannot be carried out without some inconvenience to road users.
"We apologise for this and would draw people's attention to the one lane system and diversion route which will be in place.
"It would also be helpful if anyone travelling in this area ensures they leave extra time for their journey."
