New Sports Centre For East Renfrewshire

East Renfrewshire Council has said its new sports centre will open later this month.

Eastwood High Sports Centre will have state-of-the-art facilities which the community will be able to use and replaces the old Eastwood High School Games Hall.

The new facility will open on Monday 24 June.

The project, which cost £28.9m, saw both the sports centre and the school completely rebuilt.

While the sports centre opens shortly, the new school will welcome pupils from August.

Both buildings are located on the existing Eastwood High site in Capelrig Road.

As part of the development work, the new sports centre includes:

  • Two four-court sports halls with sufficient floor space for indoor hockey, basketball netball and other team sports


  • Swimming pool


  • Fitness/dance studio


  • Synthetic football pitch


  • Synthetic athletics track


  • Synthetic hockey pitch


  • Small games hall
The facility will be the base of the new Eastwood Community Sports Hub which is the combination of various sports clubs working together to increase the capacity of sport within the local area. There will also be a full health and fitness programme, club development, coach and volunteer development and events and festivals.

Convener for Community Services and Community Safety, Councillor Mary Montague, said: "Sports facilities in East Renfrewshire are second to none and the new Eastwood High Sports Centre will be a fantastic addition to our provision.

"Along with the new school, this represents a huge investment by the council and it will be a real asset for everyone in the area to enjoy.

"By improving facilities, we aim to increase participation in and widen access to sport and physical activity for the whole community and create a lasting legacy for sport within East Renfrewshire."
