East Dunbartonshire Council has said it will deliver almost 400 new homes for the area over the next five years.
The project will be delivered under a Strategic Housing Investment Plan (SHIP).
The SHIP will direct investment in affordable housing over the period to help achieve outcomes set out in the Local Housing Strategy.
Developed in partnership with Scottish Government Housing Supply Division, Registered Social Landlords and Planning and Social Work Services, the SHIP will also prioritise projects for future funding.
Under the initiative, the Council aims to deliver 396 new affordable homes, including 136 new Council houses for rent and 20 homes within the local authority's new shared equity scheme – 98 of which are on site.
Plans are also in place to build the remaining homes within housing developments in Bearsden, Bishopbriggs, Milngavie, Milton of Campsie and Kirkintilloch.
Depute Leader of the Council and Convener of Housing and Community Services, Ashay Ghai, said: "The Council’s Strategic Housing Investment Plan shows our commitment to addressing the significant shortage of affordable housing in East Dunbartonshire.
"Over the next few years we aim to develop high quality housing within the area which will be made available to people on the Council’s housing waiting list.
"This is extremely positive news for people looking for affordable homes within East Dunbartonshire and we will continue to ensure that funding for hew housing is maximised and that more houses are delivered in the future."
