Councillors have rejected an attempt to change conditions imposed on a planned wind farm for sourth west Scotland, the BBC has said.

Last year, the Scottish Government granted approval to RES for the 11-turbine project between New Luce, Kirkcowan and Glenluce.

The firm wanted to alter some of the conditions placed on the approval of the Glenchamber scheme, but members of Dumfries and Galloway Council rejected the proposals.


There were a total of 26 conditions attached to the approval. It is thought the developers had sought changes and amendments to three conditions which related to the monitoring and levels of "background" noise from the development.

They were opposed by council officials, who said the noise generated by the turbines could have an adverse impact on surrounding properties.

There were also concerns that allowing the changes could reduce the effectiveness and ability of the local authority to investigate and resolve any complaints that may arise.

Planning councillors agreed with the view of officers' recommendations and refused the bid to relax the conditions.
