More than £40k is to be invested in Dundee's tennis courts.

It is understood the Environment Committee will hear of the proposals to upgrade facilities in the city next week.

Fairmuir and South Road courts would receive the bulk of the investment, while other repairs would be carried out across the city for the early stages of the scheme.


Depute Environment Convener Councillor Vari McDonald said: "We have seen a significant investment in sporting facilities across Dundee in recent years and I am keen that tennis can also benefit. There have been a number of activities to encourage young players and I would like that to be matched by the quality of the courts.

"There are a number of longer-term improvements that we have identified, however there are changes that can be made now to enhance the situation.

"The council is also looking to attract external funding which will help deliver even more improvements in council facilities. We are keen that both the east and west of the city could have tennis centres."
