New Skate Park For Sauchie

A new skate park has opened in Sauchie, Clackmannanshire.

The park is open to all wheel sports, including BMX bikes and scooters, and its facilities include a half pipe, grinders and a fun box.

An official opening of the Fairfield Skate Park is expected to take place in June, while further discussions have taken place with Sport Scotland which will see a funding application submitted to their 'Active Places Fund'. If successful, the skate park facility will be further developed to include floodlighting, fencing and additional features for the park.

A SPUG graffiti art group has also been formed who meet every second Monday at the Bowmar Centre. Members are currently developing skills in graffiti art with the view to painting a community arts project at the new facility.

Council Leader, Councillor Gary Womersley said: "The Council appointed Butter Landscaping to build the skate park, and it has been completed to an extremely high standard. Work began at the end of January and I am delighted to see the park open for our young people to enjoy.

"The Council has also earmarked a small amount of capital funding which will enable a path and some further landscaping to be included in the initial build. It promises to be another excellent sporting facility for the youth of the area and indeed the whole of Clackmannanshire."
