Study Supports Hotel Plans For Dundee

A new study has supported plans for a hotel to be built at Dundee's new railway station, the BBC has said.

The building would be situated within the new station.

Research carried out by TRI Hospitality Consulting, said the city could support a 13-bedroom hotel at the station concourse, adding that it expected to see strong demand for accommodation in the area following the completion of the Dundee Waterfront area as well as the new V&A Museum.


Developers have submitted plans for £14m railway concourse, which include the station, office development and a hotel, but as of yet, no operator has signed up to run the station hotel.

During the next two years, three new hotels are already scheduled to open in the city, catering to the "top end" of the market, and TRI said that any new hotel would have to have rooms priced at below £100.

They added: "The market for hotel accommodation in Dundee has remained stable throughout the past four years and is set to increase with the ongoing regeneration schemes in the city and the elevation of the tourism profile of Dundee will also further enhance the city's appeal as a commercial and leisure destination."
