£4.7m Housing Investment For Glenrothes

A total of £4.7m is to be invested in housing in the Glenrothes, Kinglassie, Leslie, Markinch and Thornton area.

The report outlining the funds was presented to Glenrothes Area Committee on Thursday.

A total of 80 jobs will be carried out as part of the scheme and will include the installation of:

380 improved heating systems

320 new kitchens

106 properties roughcast

45 new roofs

26 new sets of windows and doors

3 shower systems

The improvement works are part of a Fife-wide investment of almost £62m in council houses over the next year. More than £37m of this budget will be used to continue to carry out maintenance work on homes to bring them up to the Scottish Housing Quality Standard.

Speaking about the investment, Councillor Iain Sloan, Vice Chair of Glenrothes Area Committee said: "This is great news for our council tenants in the Glenrothes area. Everyone deserves to have a well-maintained home that's wind and water-tight and provides a comfortable and safe environment."

The news follows the announcement that a similar housing investment (worth £4.3m) had been unveiled for the Dunfermline area.
