A new £20m community sports hub in Linwood has been delivered to Renfrewshire council by BAM Construction.
The sports hub is part of the Building Better Communities Framework.
Located on Brediland Road, the sports hub includes three swimming pools (one of which is of competition standard), an eight-court sports hall, dance and aerobic studios, fitness suite, squash courts and changing rooms with showers. An adult day care facility, community café and community facilities as well as a refurbished synthetic pitch, upgraded athletics track and grass pitches are also included with the build.
In addition, the new facility will accommodate the existing Greensyde Day Care Centre, which provides services for adults with learning difficulties.
The hub, which was awarded one of the highest scores in the UK by the Considerate Constructors Scheme for a live working site, is due to open at the end of March.
Doug Keillor, Regional Director, BAM Construction Scotland, said: "Renfrewshire Council has significantly invested in its communities’ infrastructure and Linwood Sports Hub is a modern, high quality, purpose built environment to be shared by the community and its many social, cultural and sports groups. We are delighted to have delivered this project on time along with the four other major developments for Renfrewshire."
Forming part of the Renfrewshire Council Framework, BAM has already completed:
* £8m redevelopment of the Lagoon Leisure Centre in Paisley
* £6.4m Johnstone Sports Hub
* £4.2m refurbishment of Kirklandneuk Primary School in Renfrew
* £25m Park Mains High School in Erskine
