Improvements to Bannockburn's Quakerfield shopping parade are taking shape thanks to £100,000 of environmental improvements being carried out by Stirling Council.

Consultations were carried out with Bannockburn Community Council and Community Trust, shop owners and local residents to develop fresh, modern environmental improvements to the area.

The improvements agreed with the community include; all pedestrian areas being resurfaced either with quality paving slabs or new asphalt surfacing, the widening of existing parking lay-by in front of the shops, replacement of the street trees, removal of steps at the bank and construction of a new wall and ramps to improve access.


Recently Stirling Council's Portfolio Holder with responsibility for Environment Councillor Danny Gibson and Leader of the Council Councillor Johanna Boyd took a closer look at the improvement work for themselves. Councillor Gibson said: "Bannockburn residents and businesses will really benefit from the significant improvements Stirling Council is making to an area which is at the heart of the community and I know it will be welcomed locally."

New street furniture will also be installed, which will include new seating, bins and cycle parking and new street lighting.
