A three year budget plan has been approved by Inverclyde Councillors that will see £113m invested in capital projects.
Council Leader Councillor Stephen McCabe has committed to invest an extra £10m in roads, pavements and lighting.
£400,000 will go on the development of a new community facility and MUGA at Woodhall, Port Glasgow, while £350,000 will be spent on another new community facility at Broomhill, Greenock.
£300,000 has been allocated for a play area investment programme.
A £250,000 boost to the Beacon Arts Centre has been agreed, which will be matched by a similar amount of funding from Creative Scotland.
£1m will support initiatives to help the council’s programme to repopulate and promote Inverclyde as a place to live, work and spend leisure time.
£830,000 will help replace the blaes sports pitches at St Ninian’s Primary School, Gourock, Whinhill Primary School, Greenock and Kilmacolm Primary School with new 3G artificial pitches or multi-use games areas.
An extra £250,000 has been announced for the ongoing regeneration of Port Glasgow town centre, while £250,000 will aid the regeneration of the Broomhill area of Greenock.
£52,000 will provide community facilities grants to Parklea Branching Out, West Coast Cinemas and Discover Inverclyde.
There will also be two new recurring expenditure proposals.
£75,000 is being allocated to provide revenue support for the proposed new community facilities at Inverkip, Broomhill and Gibshill in Greenock and Woodhall in Port Glasgow.
£300,000 will go towards £4.2m of investment for the council’s roads asset management plan over the period 2014/16. This is to be found through the re-phasing of funding to Riverside Inverclyde and reduced expenditure on central repairs.
