A community centre in Galston has been refurbished as part of a £1m regeneration investment.
The Orchard Street centre was one of the first buildings to be developed as part the regeneration of the Irvine Valley.
The East Ayrshire centre boasts a new main entrance with ramp and steps, while the accommodation has been adapted to provide access to all areas for all members of the community.
The building’s interior has been fully refurbished and remodelled to create new toilets and a changing facility. The main hall’s old stage has been removed and new kitchen and bar facilities built in its space.
Upstairs rooms have been redecorated, forming two community meeting/training areas. The centre also benefits from new heating, hot water and air-conditioning systems.
Members of the community, councillors and guests gathered to celebrate the official opening of the new centre.
Provost Jim Todd said: "Our strategy is not only to provide new facilities, but also to contribute to regeneration. This centre is the product of an investment of approximately £1million and we also plan to refurbish our offices in the centre of Galston.
"We are confident that this continued focus of investment in our communities will safeguard and ensure their future."
Councillor Alan Brown said: "The Community Centre is indeed part of a wider development programme in the Irvine Valley, but I see it as a really important investment in our Galston community.
"Already, the modern facility has enabled the Community Association to develop a programme of increasing opportunities for a cross-section of local people, from senior citizens to mothers’ and toddlers’ groups.
"I’m pleased to note that the Community Association has already reported very positive feedback on the refurbishment – and an increase in lettings."
