Work is due to begin on a £72,000 improvement scheme at Arbroath Bus Station.
The project will increase the width of the bus stances to make it easier and safer for larger vehicles to access the stands and minimise the risk of damage to buses.
Work is due to start on 4 February 2013 and is expected to take ten weeks.
Angus Council has already spent £583,000 on a number of improvements at the station, including a new café, waiting room and accessible toilets.
The Council’s transport spokesperson Councillor Mairi Evans said: "I am pleased that we are to undertake further improvement to the facilities at Arbroath Bus Station, which is an important transport hub for residents as well as a gateway to the town for visitors."
A small number of pick-up/set-down parking bays and two disabled bays will be removed to facilitate the work.
The council’s transport team are taking steps to contact the current users of these bays to advise them of alternative suitable parking within Arbroath.
Only a limited number of stances will be available for bus services to pick up and set down during the works.
Most services will be able to continue to call at the bus station, while alternative arrangements will be in place for the following services:
Service X7 (Dundee - Arbroath - Montrose - Aberdeen) - on journeys towards Dundee, Service X7 will not serve the bus station and instead pick up and set down in the bus lay-by on Burnside Drive at Lordburn.
Aberdeen-bound journeys will use the stop on Burnside Drive at Morrison's.
Town Services 43 (Kirkton Circular) and 44 (Timmergreens - Cliffburn) - these services will not call at the bus station with journeys running directly via Catherine Street between the railway station and Lordburn.
Connections normally made by passengers at the bus station can instead be made at either Lordburn or the railway station depending on the service required.
These temporary arrangements are expected to be implemented on or around 18 February 2013.
