12 Road Improvement Projects Approved For Levenmouth

Levenmouth Area Committee members have approved a total of £574,000 for 12 road improvement projects in the area during 2013 and 2014.

A further £905,000 is to be invested to improve Levenmouth’s footpaths and street lighting over the same period.

Fife Council is also entering the eighth year of an 11-year project to replace old street lighting columns at an investment of £40m.

A lighting efficiency project has also been approved, meaning 42,000 old street lighting bulbs will be replaced with new energy-efficient ones over the next six years.

This will see 7,000 bulbs being replaced in 2013 and 2014 at a cost of £1.4m.

Cllr. Pat Callaghan, Executive Spokesperson for Transport & Environment, said: "Everyone living or working in Fife will benefit from the £49m investment in our street lights over the next six years, and a further £54m investment to upgrade roads. In Fife we’re committed to investing significant funding to look after our transport network. This is vital for Fife’s economy and will benefit everybody travelling through Fife for work, business and pleasure."

The main projects for Levenmouth will be the resurfacing of a stretch of Windygates Road and Glen Lyon Road, replacing all the street lighting lanterns and columns in Lower Largo/Upper Largo & Lundin Links and combined footway and lighting improvements at Castle Crescent, Kennoway

Chair of Levenmouth Area Committee, Councillor Tom Adams said: "This is a great investment for the area. Transportation Services continue to prioritise works that will have the most impact on our local road network, towns and villages for the money we have available."
