Work to repair damage to properties, roads, bridges and other infrastructure caused by storms and flooding in Aberdeenshire is expected to total £2m.

Over 100 separate issues have been identified in the flooding which occurred across Aberdeenshire on 15 and 23 December.

Residents were evacuated from their homes in Stonehaven during both incidents of flooding. Residents of two-sheltered housing complexes remain out of their homes while the properties are repaired.

A multi-agency meeting is to be on 29 January, which will include Aberdeenshire Council, Grampian Police and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).


Residents and businesses affected by flooding in Stonehaven are invited to the meeting.

Officers from various agencies will give a summary of the flooding across Aberdeenshire, including the weather and environmental conditions and actions taken during and after the emergency.

Aberdeenshire Council Chief Executive, Colin Mackenzie, said: "While work continues to analyse the cause and impact of the flooding, it is important that we continue to talk with the local community and particularly the people affected by the flooding, to give them the information that we have so far, and continue to offer advice and support.

"It was by working in partnership with other key agencies that we were able to respond to the flooding quickly and effectively, and I am grateful for their continued involvement and commitment to come to this important meeting."
