More than £5m has been allocated to regeneration projects in Irvine Bay, according to North Ayrshire Council.
The Scottish Government has granted a total of £5.2m, which will aid the regeneration of derelict land in Ardrossan and the development of industrial and office space in Irvine.
The announcement follows Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Employment and Sustainable Growth John Swinney’s update to the Scottish Parliament.
The Scottish government says the funding is being provided following Westminster’s reversal of cuts in Scotland's capital budget.
Patrick Wiggins, Chief Executive Irvine Bay Regeneration Company said: "We are delighted to be awarded these funds. The Annickbank Innovation Campus is a key element in our strategy to deliver the Irvine Enterprise Area, and to have secured funding for phase one is great news.
"A new medical centre in Ardrossan has been a long-held aspiration for both the local community and Irvine Bay, and now it is to become a reality.
"The Ailsa Road workshops will provide new high quality industrial space. These projects will create both construction and long term employment opportunities."
Councillor Willie Gibson, Leader of North Ayrshire Council said: "This is great news for North Ayrshire. The funding will allow these important projects to move forward quickly providing a very welcome boost to the local economy."
