Work Begins On Aberdeen Maritime Museum

Work is to begin on 7 January to refurbish the Energy Exploration displays at Aberdeen Maritime Museum following the confirmation of sponsorship from energy firms.

The museum will close for two weeks to allow new flooring to be laid without inconveniencing visitors.

The building will then re-open on 22 January, with upgrade work continuing until March and new displays completed in the spring.

The refurbishment of three floors of museum displays has been made possible through the support of 25 Oil & Gas UK companies, which have pledged over £300,000 to the upgrading of displays about the history of North Sea oil and gas.


The refurbishment work will conclude three phases of renovations at the museum.

Last year the Education Suite was fully refurbished following sponsorship from Maersk Oil North Sea UK.
